Gooding Accounts’ 2024 awards success continues with Sam Gooding being shortlisted for two Leadership awards from The Business Desk. Sam will join other finalists to celebrate the best in business leadership in both the financial and professional services categories.
Started in a spare room in his home Sam has driven Gooding Accounts to become one of the largest accountancy firms in Wiltshire with a team of 33 across 3 offices. Sam is dedicated to empowering the future of committed business owners across the South West, and with a increase in the number of clients in 2023 the firm continues to grow.
Despite the growth of the firm, Sam remains in touch with all aspects of the business, from continued contact with clients, to remaining accessible to the entire team – being present in each of the offices every week, providing weekly updates and leading monthly meetings of the entire team. Additionally, his open nature and ‘open door’ policy creates an effective and supportive team.
Sam is passionate about challenging the stereotype of the traditional accountancy firm, breathing fresh air into the market place. Supported by his senior team, Sam has worked hard to ensure Gooding Accounts is a relaxed and friendly working environment. The whole team regularly enjoy and participate in team socials, and every member of the team receive a monthly payday treat, birthday gifts and Christmas rewards. The team are also offered volunteer days to allow them time to take part in charity fundraisers for causes which resonate with them.
As a father of young children Sam recognises the importance of family and the value that a team content in their personal lives can bring. As a consequence of this, over 44% of the team work part time with hours to suit their circumstances, empowering them to excel in their professional life alongside achieving balance with their home lives.
Sam continues to support the team to be the best they can be, actively encouraging them to seek our professional qualifications. During their time with Gooding Accounts 1/3 of all team members have obtained either an accountancy or business qualification. Sam continues to invest in the team’s future, bringing apprentices into the firm and, in 2024 offering an opportunity to undertake qualifications as part of an internal training scheme.
Community has been at the heart of Gooding Accounts since its inception and Sam continues to support the local community through a range of charity fundraisers, personal challenges and sponsorships.
Sam’s support of local sports teams is extensive, including sponsorships of Trowbridge Town FC, Westbury United FC, The Manor School Football Teams (Melksham), Calne Town Football – Boys Under 7s, Trowbridge Rugby Club girls’ teams (Under 12s, Under 14’s and Under 16s) Witham Friary Youth Team (Frome) Clarendon School Year 8 Girls Football Team and Heytesbury Cricket Club ladies’ team.
To celebrate Gooding Accounts 10th Anniversary in 2024 Sam has set the entire team at Gooding Accounts an ambitious challenge to raise a total of £50,000 in charitable donations by the end of the year. Leading by example, Sam plans to take part in a number of physical challenges, including an eye-watering 5 ultra marathons, the Bude Quadrathalon and the Hyrox challenge – a gruelling 3 day fitness endurance challenge.
Sam continues to lead by example, inspiring the team to achieve results. His commitment to customer service and hard work is first class and this is replicated by his fantastic team who have brought into his infectious personality and will surely lead to continued success.
